Sometimes a rural idyll isn't what it seems...
A rural idyll: that's what Catherine is seeking when she sells her house in England and moves to a hamlet in the Cévennes mountains. With her divorce in the past and her children grown, she is free to make a new start, and set up a business as a seamstress. But this is a harsh and lonely place when you're no longer just here on holiday. There is French bureaucracy to contend with, not to mention the mountain weather, and the reserve of her neighbours, including the intriguing Patrick Castagnol. And that's before the arrival of Catherine's sister, Bryony...
Maggie Mash trained as an actress and worked in the professional theatre before starting her broadcasting career in Forces Radio. Later branching into voice-over work, Maggie now records audio books and provides the voice for such things as airlines' in-flight videos and the national mental arithmetic SATS tests. Her voice is perhaps best known for the years in which she was continuity announcer at Yorkshire Television.
Maggie has a gift for languages and is fluent in French, Italian, Spanish and Greek. She has narrated a number of titles for us, including Tell It To The Skies by Erica James. Her experience provides her voice with an authenticity when narrating a novel that can bring to life male and female characters of all ages and backgrounds.
Whole Story Audiobooks has developed a unique system to guide you on the level of explicit content in our audiobooks. The system is applied against our titles to consistently rate levels of explicit language, sex and violence.
We consider not only frequency of content type but also the context: for example, strong language in a humorous setting is different from aggressive use of strong language.
Whilst there will always be subjectivity and different individuals views on this matter, we hope that you will find our content guide useful if these criteria form part of your selection process when choosing your next audiobook.
This recording is unabridged. Typically abridged audiobooks are not more than 60% of the author's work and as low as 30% with characters and plotlines removed.
