What if a demented London cabbie called Dave Rudman wrote a book to his estranged son to give him some fatherly advice? What if that book was buried in Hampstead and hundreds of years later, when rising sea levels have put London underwater, spawned a religion? What if one man decided to question life according to Dave? And what if Dave had indeed made a mistake? Shuttling between the recent past and a far-off future where England is terribly altered, The Book of Dave is a strange and troubling mirror held up to our times: disturbing, satirizing and vilifying who and what we think we are.

Content Advisory

(What's this?)

Whole Story Audiobooks has developed a unique system to guide you on the level of explicit content in our audiobooks. The system is applied against our titles to consistently rate levels of explicit language, sex and violence.

We consider not only frequency of content type but also the context: for example, strong language in a humorous setting is different from aggressive use of strong language.

Whilst there will always be subjectivity and different individuals views on this matter, we hope that you will find our content guide useful if these criteria form part of your selection process when choosing your next audiobook.

  • Violence: Strong
  • Sex: Strong
  • Language: Strong
